Brazil Bound – Part I

A Prayer Request for Pastor Adam

If you have been following us via social media for the last few years it would be easy to state that we have been on a bit of a journey.  We’ve moved several times, including a recent move to Oklahoma.  Wendy and I have been working to bring ourselves in line with God’s will for our lives, and a chance at full-time ministry.  During this season in our life, I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to us.  From June 10-19, I will be traveling with a local church mission team to Brazil.

First, our mission team will be building a church for a local Brazilian community.  The foundation has been poured and we will be constructing this building from the ground up.  This is a big job for us, as the building is being fully funded by the church.  The local congregation came together and raised the money to complete this structure.

Secondly, our mission team will be integrating into the community, as volunteers evangelize.  Accompanied by a Portuguese translator, we will be sharing the Good News as we get to know the people of this culture and community.  I must confess that this is the portion of the journey that speaks to my heart the most.  I have a passion for sharing God’s word, and this is a unique opportunity for me to grow in my service to Christ.

Third, during this mission trip, the team will be hosting a children’s ministry.  In previous years, hundreds of children have participated.  This program will be similar to the Vacation Bible School experienced by our children here in the United States.  Daily lessons, worship, games and other activities.  It’s more than just ministry, it’s sharing the love of Christ to a new generation of believers.

Finally, our church will have the privilege of hosting the first sermon there before we return to the United States.  We will be able to share in this new community as we come together as brothers and sisters in Christ in worship.  There will be no language barriers present as our voices are lifted together in fellowship.  Past pictures show people lined up outside the building waiting for a chance to participate in worship and prayer.

I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish.  So I ask that you partner with us on this cause.  I ask that you devote some of your prayer time to the mission team.  I ask that you lift up prayer to the local community that we will be visiting and that God’s power be unleashed in such a way that lives are healed and a community is changed.  Prayer is the greatest gift and resource that you can provide to support a mission trip like this one.  To God be all the glory.

Wendy and I are so grateful for your prayers and your support as we participate in this calling.

May God bless you and your family,
